Mr. Andrew Gratz

Andrew Gratz is the Associate General Counsel for Commercial and Strategic Transactions of LyondellBasell, a position he has held since November 2017. 

In this role, Gratz leads the department responsible for the legal support of LyondellBasell’s commercial activities in the Americas, and its strategic transactions globally (e.g., mergers, acquisitions, divestures, joint ventures, etc.), including its recently announced $2.25 billion acquisition of A. Schulman Inc. 

Prior to his role as Associate General Counsel, Gratz was LyondellBasell’s Lead Compliance Counsel and managed its global anti-corruption, antitrust, and data privacy compliance programs. 

LyondellBasell is a $40 billion publicly traded multinational chemical company, with annual sales of $34 billion, 13,000 employees, and 55 manufacturing sites located across 32 countries. 

Prior to joining LyondellBasell, Gratz was in private law practice where he focused primarily on securities, mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, and litigation matters. 

Prior to practicing law, Gratz held numerous roles in government relations, including managing congressional campaigns, administering a PAC, and working at numerous trade associations.  

Gratz received a Bachelor of Arts from The American University in 1998, graduating magna cum laude. He obtained a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center in 2002, and a Master of Business Administration with high honors from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2006.
