Doug Barnard

Doug Barnard is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at CF Industries.
As the Chief Legal Officer of CF Industries (NYSE: CF), an S&P 500 agrichemical company, he has represented the company in its $750M initial public offering; its $5B acquisition of a competitor following a fifteen-month, four-way takeover battle; its $1.4B divestiture of a business segment; and its $3B production joint venture with a domestic customer.
He was also Chairman of the Board of CF's controlled public subsidiary, Terra Nitrogen MLP (NYSE: TNH).
Previously, Doug was an EVP and general counsel of Bcom3 Group, representing the company in its €3B sale to a European competitor; Chief Legal Officer of LifeStyle Furnishings Int’l, representing the private equity portfolio company in and following its $1B leveraged buyout; and a Partner representing private equity clients at Kirkland & Ellis.
He holds a B.S. in physics from M.I.T. (1979), a J.D. from the University of Minnesota (1982 with honors), and an MBA in finance and accounting from Chicago Booth (1998 with high honors, Wallman scholar).
Doug has also taught as a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, and serves as a member of the M.I.T. Corporation Development Committee.
