New Study Looks at Variations in M&A Holdback Structures
Variations in holdback structures were considered in detail in a recent M&A escrow study, which looked at variations in the typical components of these important risk mitigation mechanisms.
At a high-level, the study showed 7.7% of the purchase price is placed in escrow on average. But the data, which was compiled from Capital IQ and anonymized by J.P. Morgan escrow services agreements and account data, show meaningful variations across deal types, sectors, and duration, among other factors.
